Local residents want Fort Hood to know they care about what happened Thursday. They are turning out in droves at blood centers, sending e-mail messages, even planning a barbecue on the base.
Valerie Duty Citrano, of Waco, wanted to honor the civilian police officer who stopped the carnage at Fort Hood, so she turned to her own Facebook site on the Internet.

Texas Mutual Safety Award |

Texas Mutual Insurance Company is recognizing 164 Texas-based employers for their workplace safety efforts.  The award is based largely on each policyholder's safety record, as well as the types of hazards their employees face.
